AHS-LA Music Education Program
Sunday, February 17, 2013 and Sunday March 17, 2013
CHAPEL of the First Baptist Church of Pasadena
75 N. Marengo Ave., Pasadena 91101
Deadline was Feb 6, 2013 for RECEIPT of all applications & fees.
The Los Angeles Chapter offers this program annually in conjunction with the (national) American Harp Society, which provides a certificate of completion to all participants who perform at both sessions. This is an opportunity for harpists of all ages and levels to play for an Advisor in a non-competitive setting and to receive an evaluation with advice and encouragement.
At the first session, participants are asked to play two selections of their own choosing, representing contrasting styles or from different periods (Classical, Romantic, Contemporary, Popular, etc.) At the second session, participants perform their selections again, incorporating ideas and advice received from the Advisor. A third selection may also be played, if total playing time for all three pieces does not exceed seven minutes. Written comments by the Advisor will be provided for both sessions.
Participants and their teachers must be current members of AHS-LA.
Friends & family of participants, and other harp fans, are also welcome to attend and listen!

First Baptist Church is located between Holly and Union streets, north of Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena. (See http://fbcpasadena.com/#/about-us/contact for more directions.) There is limited street parking around the church, but validated parking is available in the covered parking lot on Holly Street. Enter through the courtyard with the fountain. We will be in the Chapel.
The chapel will be open at 12:30.
Participating students: Please arrive promptly. You’ll have only a few minutes to get accustomed to the harp provided, so be sure to warm up at home before you come. A pedal harp will be provided. If you are bringing your own harp, you will be responsible for tuning it. You must bring your own original printed copy of the music you are playing, to show the Advisor during your performance. No photocopies are allowed.
AHS-LA members and other interested parties are welcome to attend to watch, listen and learn.
